Privacy Policy
Effective date: 6 May 2025
Clean Power Shift (“CPS,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is an editorial and advisory platform operated by Clean Energy Research LLC, a Colorado‑registered limited‑liability company founded by Brandon N. Owens. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the professionals, readers, and clients who rely on our independent analysis of the energy transition. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through CleanPowerShift.com, how we use and share that information, the legal grounds on which we process it, and the choices available to you. By visiting or using our website, newsletter, research portal, or advisory services you agree to the practices described below.
1 • Who We Are
Clean Energy Research LLC (doing business as Clean Power Shift)
17717 W. 78th Dr., Arvada, CO 80007, USA
bowens@cleanpowershift.com
For the purposes of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and analogous laws, Clean Energy Research LLC is the “data controller” for information collected through our digital properties and client engagements.
2 • Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
Email address, name, professional title, organisation, billing details (processed securely by Stripe or PayPal—CPS never stores full card numbers), and the content of messages, survey responses, or consultation notes you choose to share.
2.2 Information collected automatically
IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, referring pages, timestamps, and aggregate usage metrics (page views, scroll depth, outbound clicks) gathered via first‑party cookies, Google Analytics 4, and Ghost CMS statistics.
2.3 Information from third parties
Professional demographic data from LinkedIn, payment‑verification results from financial institutions, and publicly available company or regulatory records that enrich our market‑intelligence products.
3 • How We Use Your Information
We process personal data to deliver newsletters, gated research, client workspaces, and customer support; to fulfil contracts and process payments; to analyse readership trends, improve editorial focus, prevent fraud, and secure our infrastructure; to send marketing communications when you have given consent; and to comply with legal obligations such as accounting rules and lawful requests from authorities.
4 • Cookies and Similar Technologies
We deploy first‑party cookies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and compile anonymised analytics. Third‑party services (Google Analytics, Stripe, LinkedIn) may set additional cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; doing so may degrade site functionality. Visitors from the EU or UK receive a cookie banner that enables granular opt‑in.
5 • How We Share Information
CPS never sells or leases personal data. We share it only with service providers bound by confidentiality (Ghost CMS, Mailchimp, Stripe/PayPal, Google Workspace), with professional advisers (lawyers, accountants) under duties of confidentiality, with authorities when legally required, or with a successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition—provided equivalent safeguards remain in place.
6 • International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you visit from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data‑transfer restrictions, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved by regulators.
7 • Data Retention
Subscription records are retained while your account is active and for seven years thereafter to satisfy tax and audit requirements. Analytics logs are stored for up to twenty‑six months. Consultation files are retained for the life of the advisory engagement plus five years, unless a longer period is necessary to resolve disputes.
8 • Your Rights
Subject to local law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or portability of your personal data; object to or restrict processing; and opt out of marketing at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” or contacting bowens@cleanpowershift.com. California residents can exercise CCPA rights via our online request form or toll‑free number listed in the website footer. We respond to verifiable requests within the statutory period and never discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.
9 • Children’s Privacy
CPS is intended for professionals and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen years of age. If you believe a minor has provided personal data, please contact us for prompt deletion.
10 • Security
We use HTTPS encryption, least‑privilege access controls, regular software patching, and third‑party penetration testing to safeguard data. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, but CPS follows industry best practices to minimise risk.
11 • Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, technical, or business developments. Material changes will be announced on CleanPowerShift.com and, for subscribers, via email. The “Effective date” above always signals the latest revision.
